2020 Season Update

Over the past few months, the board and coaches of the Westlake Girls Softball Association have been working together and keeping up to date on the ever changing information that has been made available to us through local, state and national sources. This culminated with the releasing of the guidance for being able to participate in low-contact activities last Friday evening by governor Dewine.

Tough conversations were had, and last evening the WGSA board voted and made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Recreation Softball season. Many factors were weighed including the ability to safely hold softball games, and adhere to the guidance that has been placed upon us as a board, and by volunteers who make up the coaching staffs and umpires who would have been leading the teams and games. We also had to take a hard look at how much fun the girls would have with these restrictions. The negatives just outweighed the positives to trying to have the season.

We will be refunding all registrations that were submitted and everyone who registered should have received an email earlier detailing this out. If you did not, please check your spam or let us know and we can follow up.

On behalf of the Westlake Girls Softball Association we wish you and your family good health, and an amazing summer in these uncertain times.

Warm Regards,
The Westlake Girls Softball Association Board

President's Message

Welcome back to our new and improved Westlake Girls Softball Association Website.  We are looking forward to our upcoming 2020 season for girls from Kindergarten through 12th grade!

The WGSA will again be teaming up with Westlake Head Varsity Softball Coach Tom Shiban to build a comprehensive softball development program to unify all of our players in the Westlake Softball family.  This program will include softball skills development clinics run by Coach Shiban and his varsity team and a weekly pitching program.  Additionally, we offer skills sessions through Rocky River Force for our travel programs.  We also offer pitching instruction for rec program as well.  Details to come.

In addition to our recreational program, WGSA will also have travel teams competing in the U10, U12, and U14 Emerald Necklace leagues.  This will provide a fantastic opportunity for some of our players to further develop their skills and play at an advanced level of competition.

It has been a pleasure working with such a talented team of Board Members.  I’ve truly enjoyed my experience this year serving as President.  We will continue to work to take this program to the next level for our Westlake softball community.  We are looking forward to another exciting season!

Please continue to visit our website as we’ll have continuous updates.

See you on the fields this Spring!
